What We Do

Fire Safety

Fire Prevention Week is October 5-9th 2026!

For this year's fire prevention week, The National Fire Protection Association is promoting safe charging of lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are present all around us in devices such as cell phones, laptops, tablets, cordless tools, outdoor power equipment and sometimes even vehicles. Please do not charge any of these batteries while unattended, and be sure to unplug the batteries as soon as charging is complete.

Fire Safety Starts With YOU!

Fires can and do occur anywhere and at any time. Following a few simple fire safety tips will greatly reduce the possibility of accidental fires from occurring. When GVFD visits with area students, we go over much of the information from the attached graphics with students to help prepare them and teach fire safety.
